About Us

AIEESThe Energy and Environment research database is your one stop access to energy research, technology, and innovation in Alberta. Established in September 2008 as the Government of Alberta database for research in all areas of energy and technology development, this database is a portal for information contributed from over 35 years of cross-ministry and department resources and research projects with industry, academia, and other partners. The Energy and Environment research database is managed by Alberta Innovates -- Energy and Environment Solutions (AI-EES), and is the starting point for technology and information transfer from researchers to industry, and the implementation of technology in the field.

Primarily, this database is a web-accessible repository of public and private research in energy pertinent to the vast hydrocarbon resources in Alberta, with a growing collection reflective of modern developments in energy and environment research. There are over 52,000 documents in the collection, about half of which are publicly available. All records in the database include citations, and full documents are included when available.

Originally called the Alberta Oil Sands Information Service (AOSIS), the Alberta Innovates -- Energy and Environment Solutions Information Service now allows 24/7 access to the research database on oil sands, upgrading, conventional oil and gas, and heavy oil. As the Government of Alberta and AI-EES invest in other sources of energy and environment research, including energy technologies, renewable and emerging resources, environmental management, and water resources, these reports and publications will also become available.
